Pasteurization procedures

So the other day I used Damion's bucket tek to prepare a coir/verm substrate. The substrate has been sitting in the bucket for about a week now and I'm hoping to pasteurize it to reduce any chance of contams. What would everyone say is the best way to pasteurize the substrate? I used my microwave last time but have been doing some reading since then and learned that this might not be the best way to go.

If you followed Damion5050's Elementary Coir Tek all the way through then you have technically already pasteurized it.

Actually, you have not actually pasteurized it, but close enough for coir and vermiculite.
Some people may say go ahead and use it anyway. I would sterilize or pasteurize it.

Fair enough, was thinking about loading some substrate into a jar them boiling the jar on the stove for a while to pasteurize. Effective or not? Still a little unlearned as far as pasteurization goes.

I would go ahead and properly pasteurize on the stove, using jars or freezer bags and a meat thermometer. When I have extras after doing my "PC contained pasteurizing" (no there isn't a write up... yet), I put them in a bag and save them for when I do a big tub, then throw it in with another coir brick/2.5qt verm/5.25ish qt water and pasteurize that the same way. I don't have the balls to use it weeks later without pasteurizing. I hate contamination.

CVG is extremely forgiving because of it's high resistance to contamination. Very few spores can germinate on it. I would just put it in some jars and sterilize it if you have a PC.
But yeah, you can just put it in some jars and boil it. I would get the center temperature up to at least 140F for an hour. It doesn't matter if it gets hotter for longer, but boiling may require you to watch it closer to keep the pot from running dry.
But, it almost doesn't matter. This could be a good opportunity to learn proper pasteurization for the when you use other substrate materials.

Proper pasteurization in jars is easy. Fill jars with substrate, fill water up to halfish up the jars covered in foil lids, heat til the core is 135-140°F and turn off the stove. The temps need to stay between 170-140°F for one hour.
EDIT: Spitball beat me to it.
