Possible Contamination? - HELP!
    #20259452 - 07/11/14 07:36 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Got this substrate jar I nicknamed "Hard Worker" it had a whole lot of moisture in the substrate jar to begin with because it was my first batch in a new pressure cooker. I think i may have had too much of a high water level when pressure cooking and that is what caused the moisture. Well my colleague and I decided to go ahead and inoculate the substrate jar, and I feel like my mycelium is having a hard time colonizing because of this moisture.

Then I also fear those spots of moisture could be room or grounds for contamination! Could someone give me some advice on what to do?

These are the best pics i could get!

Thanks man :grin::thumbup: I kinda figured out the water level thing on my own after the first batch in the pc, but you don't know how much I appreciate the advice. I have another question though do you think could thoroughly clean and reuse the jar? I'm kinda a running on a shoestring until i get my first yields.

oh of course you can re-0use the jar, personeely i would go get some pp5's if you can't find the half pints but those pints or even the tall halfs are horrible for the pf tek, gravity draws moisture down and compacts the sub at the bottom so the tend to stall out and take forever to colonize, rule of thumb for the pf tek is the jar should be as tall as it is wide

Thx man! Tons of helpful info man! :tongue2::thumbup: Those were just the only jars I could get at the time but yes I have definitely been planning to get the half pint jars.
