SGFC Question
    #20258714 - 07/11/14 04:47 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

I see a lot of grows where the mushrooms have been damaged from too much c02, water, lack of water, etc... For a standard SGFC where you are fanning and misting, do you guys set alarms during the night to wake up and fan/mist on a schedule or should the mushrooms be fine while you sleep 8 hours?

You do not have to wake up to mist them.....lol.

Mist the cakes with a very fine mist until they glisten, then fan out the chamber to promote evaporation.

Mist again once the water you previously misted has evaporated.

This can be done as little as twice a day....just keep evaporation off the cakes happening.

Co2 is automatically expelled out of the top holes.

To PF, i am not arguing, only seeking clarification.

CO2 is denser than O2, so wouldn't the CO2 settle towards the bottom of the SGFC and expel through the side holes?  rather than the top?

Just wondering because i will be making a SGFC soon and i also had this thought of having to wake up to mist.

Thanks in advance.  I have read many of your posts and threads (from your sig) and they have helped a lot.

You know it's funny....I knew someone would say something because I typed that lol.

Co2 is heavier than o2, but only by a fraction....so if any type of currents are present the 2 mix together.

In a SGFC you have constant heat and humidity currents rising.....the co2 rides these currents up and out of the chamber, pulling fresh humid air in thru the bottom, and the whole thing repeats itself.

Co2 will never settle/drain to/out the bottom of a fruiting chamber.
