10 for 10 jars in sgfc and fruiting nicely! 1 week Coup!e things..
1. Had a couple cakes with side pinning. I thought I'd try turning them on their side pins up..towards 65k 12/12 lightning. Several grew 3 inches over night?? Anyone done this??
2. I put a food hydrator next to sgfc to dry the 1st few in a small backroom. Went mist a few hours later and was much warmer in the room. Noticed much more growth. Anyone done this?

Yes, people have fruited their cakes on their side before.
They tend to double in size about every 24 hours.....3 inches overnight just doesn't seem possible.

A food dehydrator should not be running next to a SGFC, and yes they have a tendency of warming up the room their in.

I've currently inoculated 48 cakes and plan on inoculating another 48 cakes soon. I have not done what you're talking about yet but I can't wait to be where you are. I'm a first time grower and bought my spores from "sporestore" which I found out is no longer a sponsor on shroomery.org because they sell contaminated syringes. I just purchased another 10 syringes from spore"works" who is a sponsor of shroomery.
Anyway, I decided to use the hard to use syringes from sporestore while waiting for the new ones and am actually getting 6 jars to form some mycelium out of 48 which are horrible statistics but great because I didn't think I was going to get any to work.
I've been playing with different ratios of vermiculite and Brands of flour. I've tried becoming creative by grinding down rice to different particle sizes. By playing around with the size of the grain I'm hoping to make the cakes more air entrained while allowing air exchange to be a bit easier. I will say from observation that the mycelium tends to like to grow on cakes which are further away from the glass walls of the jars. I'm not sure why this is, maybe there's more air exchange going on in those jars versus the jars which are more packed need more time for the proper air exchange to occur.
The way I have constructed my incubation bins goes as the following:

1) Stack two bins on top of each other with water and a fish thermometer between the two bins.
2) Use Lizard/cricket water pads which hold moisture and layer the bottom of the dry bin(The warm water below will evaporate the water from the pad and will keep the humidity up in bin). I then stack a layer of jars over the pad and place a thermometer and high/low humidity tracker on the bottom layer.
3)Apply an additional layer of the lizard/cricket water pad on top of the jars below so the jars on the bottom are sandwiched between the wet pads (pads are pressure cooked).
4)to utilize space I put one more stack of jars above the other jars and give it it's own thermometer. Remember the layer below will be about 5 degrees warmer than the above layer because the bottom layer is in direct contact with the water heater.
I found by having two layers of jars it's like having different atmospheres. I'm not an expert at this since this is my very first time attempting to grow but I'm trying to increase my chances at being successful.
I don't feel that I need to risk spraying my jars every day to maintain high humidity when I can maintain the humidity in the container so the jars don't dry out.
If you look at the Acubenzi Mycelium picture here you can see the moisture against the walls of this jar is very high which I've read can be very dangerous for contamination but seems to be working really well here.
This is my very first post so if my pictures don't show up for any reason I'm sorry. I'm not even sure if I linked them correctly.
I'm about to create the fruiting chamber. Does anyone have any good ideas for how I should set up the foundation of the fish tank? I'm going to use Perlite but how much perlite? I have fans, humiditors, lights etc etc

I am more than willing to create my own thread but I'm new to shroomery and don't have that ability yet :/...
but I'll look for a different and "active" thread to talk on.

Sorry, I might be misunderstanding where you're talking about. What I have circled in my picture tells me my account abilities if i'm not mistaken, otherwise I'm looking in the wrong place.
I click on the tiny hyperlink named "threads" under my user name and it takes me to the picture I posted.

Maybe I need some kudos, references from someone or permission to make a thread. IDK, sorry for blowing up this wall. I'll delete them soon so they don't take up the wall.
Thanks, J$

anyways.. I since removed the dehydrator from the same room ... kinda dumb! I know!
Last night i tried a sample* Absolutely amazing!
I read a thread on here once about growing your own. Went something like.. you can buy from the street not knowing what you're getting.. sterile environment . contams.. who knows... But growing your own, you know exactly what's what!
So true! Couldn't be happier!
1 question : I'm still on first flush.. when should i start the 2nd? as they are still producing now..
