Fuzzy base?
    #20254175 - 07/10/14 05:07 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Hey all, newbie question. I noticed that the base of my mushrooms are fuzzy when it's time to pick em. What is it? Is it mycillium?  I saw questions about fuzz but no pics to compare, sorry I'm a visual learner. Thanks in advance

what sorta fruiting chamber are you using?

im going to guess it is from lack of fae,

but dont worry, they are still good

and i do belive it is the base turning into mycelium, but someone correct me if im wrong

A grow kit I guess

its just mycelium, often called fuzzy feet. most likely because of poor fae. stagnant/stale air.

Yeah, this is my first experiment. So more holes? This is the 3rd harvest off this particular cake. The first 2 didn't fuzz.

if you built your sgfc to specs dont drill more holes.
make sure the chamber is elevated and that perlite arent clogging the bottom holes.
move the sgfc more towards the center of a room if you have it stacked against a wall..

I just guessed it was a kit because I saw verm and very fuzzy feet.

i noticed a similar occurrence with my tub, fisr flush fine, second one seemed to need less polyfill in the top holes and now I have one hole open on each tub,

so what is it your using as a fc

I'm using a 6x12x6 clear Rubbermaid snap top bin that's clear on the sides. I don't actually have any holes punched in it. I open it up to breath every couple hours and to check temp/humi. I figure to start plain and make small adjustments as I go. I'm a trial and error kinda person. On another note, I really appreciate all the suggestions, assistance and especially patience with new people in this community.

dude, make a proper sgfc, and you will get better results from your cakes

or just start using grains and turn that tote into a monotub

SGFC

dont worry so much about humidity, just give them fresh air and mist more!
