need to automate

Going back to being a full time student and with work this will leave me less time to give the cakes the FAE and mistig they need. Was wondering if people knew of a good route to take for an automated humidification and Fae system that doesn't take a whole lot of space or is flexible with the amount of column it takes up. I am currently using less than 5'x 2.5'x 5' so there isn't a lot of room. The place is made for storage. I was looking at a mistking system. I have a chameleon so I've seen my fair share of misting systems and feel there isn't a whole lot better than what you can do yourself with a spray bottle. Still works wonders for me regardless. I am def open to suggestions. I have quite a bit of time before I won't be able to mist them so a small greenhouse could be pieced slowly. I also was looking at an early starters greenhouse from home depot (just a plastic casing and PVC shelf) but combined with my humidifier and a Vicks cool mist I think it might work nice. I dunno I'm still very new to the whole thing and do not want to waste my time on dinky stuff unless it gets the job done effectively and precisely.

What he said Montub = set and forget
And even if u don't want to do a monotub (on which reason whatsoever) it's enough if u mist/fan a SGFC after getting up and before going to bed, so there isn't a lot to do (but of course more is recommend)

can I just innoc sterilized rye in quarts for spawn? Do I need a casing? And should I mix any water in or just sterilize a quart of rye?

I'm pretty sure the SGFC is as automated as it gets. If you are still using cakes stick to the SGFC.

I don't think so. A well built Martha with humidifier/misters on timers/RH detectors could potentially be entirely automated.

Nope, you have to check water levels in your humidifiers and always be adjusting until you have it dialed in. Plus it is way more crap that you really don't need unless your trying to do bulk trays or edibles. Cakes generally don't do as well in a Martha. At least that is my experience. All I am saying is that the standard SGFC is the easiest thing to just set and check once in the morning each day.

You would still have to fill the reservoirs every day....but your talking about spending some money there.
A set and forget monotub is the only truly fully automated system.

Reservoirs could easily be hooked up to a larger reservoir that could last days or weeks at a time. In fact, I was just reading a tek about that the other day, I'll see if I can find it

If you want to spend the money, go right ahead......I have spent $300+ on my greenhouse.....that lasted only a few months.....then I gave it to my iguana.....now it sits in my yard, useless since he grew out of it......Monotubs for bulk, or SGFCs for cakes......trust me.

Mane I didn't say I was gonna do it, just that if you wanted to fully automate with no misting or anything you could potentially do that with a martha

Well is seems like I should get some tubs started then. I've tried this whole cake thing once and I feel it turned out OK. Made my own prints and innoced 28 more with a self made syringe and everything. I think I already spent over 300 on trying to get all my supplies for my SGFC and because of BRF cakes not giving as much fruit as I desired, felt like I needed to tweak a few things to fine tune it. I was told rye berries will be less contaminant prone and give larger fruit because of more available nutrients for the mycelia. I already tried a few minor adjustments including adding coconut to my spawning substrate and that alone already made a huge difference.
I think with your guys' suggestions, I will grind some rye to flour and try rye cakes in my SGFC and start some rye quarts for bulk spawn as I save for some monotubs equip. I guess the biggest thing currently then is some good lighting maybe?

U can colonise the rye grains in a 1 jar, spawn that to 3 jars of coir/verm, put that in a tray(deepis better than shallow) let that colonise then either fruit or add a casing layer, leave till 30% colonised and then fruit. You do all this in a sgfc. I get much better results using grains
