Like I said buddy, start a new project soon. You'll feel a lot better about it. Next time you got it.
What do you think caused the contamination? Dirty grain? Improper pasteurization? Did you use coir or dung/straw?

I plan to start a new one as soon as i get the money for a pressure cooker. I used bought, pre-sterilized rye berries and compost as a substrate. From now on I'm going t do it all myself.

Very good idea. DIY is the way to go. Amazon has cheap All Americans(oxy moron), which are the Lamborghini of pressure cookers. You can also check out local thrift stores for used PCs. I dropped over 300 on my 30 quart All American and it was the single best investment I made in the hobby(my flow hood would be if I didn't inherit it).

You've already put the tub into fruiting by opening the lid to take that pic. Usually fruit when you have a decent amount of pins popped up and they're about a 1/4 inch tall.
Keep a close eye on your tubs. You can scoop that trick spot out with some sterile tools and still get some yield out of the tub. Trich can spread super fast, so take care of it right away.

No he didn't.......opening the lid to take a quick picture is not going to fruit the tub.

We usually fruit bulk at full colonization, regardless of if there are pins present or not.

I have never had much luck removing it. Once its there, its there. Any place I scoop out has trich back in the hole the next day. In any colonized areas. An established colony of mold WILL propagate on coir, regardless of coir's "resistance" to contaminates. I have not even noticed much decrease in the rate of colonization for the mold. I also woud think messing around with it period inside just spreads spores, as isn't it once it turns green, those are spores? I am not trying to claim I know for sure either, this is just what I have seen and read.

Ah, that kind of pricing is out of my budget though. However, using your luxury car scale, is Presto the BMW of the pressure cooker world?

I hate the rubber gaskets presto uses for their lid seal. Presto will get you by for sure, but All Americans are just so superbly made. You get the impression you could set off a stick of dynamite inside and nothing would happen to it.

Coirs only real resistance to mold is that mold spores don't like to germinate on it, and the resistance ends there. Mold mycelium has no issues spreading like wild fire on it though, so one has to always make sure their spawn is clean obviously. If your spawn is dirty, coir won't save the day.

even if you find an old one of any brand at the second hand store there great, all these new aluminum ones will never last or be as reliable but for 70 bux they work out alright

Ya after about a year and a half my 2 al prestos are wearing out. Bottoms warping, leaking more, melted a few bags running out of water. Replacing the gaskets did not help.

Wearing after only 1.5 years? Fuck that noise. My All American 30 quart is going on 4 years and looks and works like the first day I bought. Quality is reflected in the price with these pressure cookers apparently.
By the way, if anyone is looking for a hot plate that is industrial strength to handle the 30 quart and above pressure cookers I did A LOT of research to find this guy: BAD ASS GERMAN HOT PLATE. I call it German because despite being a Cadco, mine is a german model and has the words "HOT CHODE" printed in bold red across the front.
My glass top counter top couldn't handle my 30 and 40 quart PCs obviously, so I had to find a hot plate. Sadly, most of the cheaply made american hot plates can't get something like a filled 30 quart up to 15 psi, or even 10 psi. This guy on the other hand, does the job perfectly. 4 years and going strong.
