Flea Markets
    #20252107 - 07/10/14 09:29 AM (9 years, 6 months ago)

Hey guys; first time posting here. I'm currently on hiatus from work due to a wrist injury and looking for a way to earn some cash in the meantime. (eBay sucks nowadays) Just thought I'd invite you guys to brainstorm with me!

My neighbor makes little 'Bama/Auburn (football) themed tin men out of empty soup cans and spray paint. Apparently, they sell pretty well at $25 a piece. While I'm not much of an artist, I'm skilled in welding and can still practice despite one hand being out of commission...

Some interesting metal yard art type stuff might do well; those outdoor contained fireplace things (forget what they're called) might sell - if it weren't 100 degrees every day. Iron benches/chairs don't sound very comfortable, so scratch that. I built a go-kart once - that's a bit of a stretch for me at the moment though.

Advice - suggestions - anecdotes? Someone holler some truth in my face!

Look on ebay in the art section.  If you are good at metal working, then look for metal artwork. There is a shit ton on there and it sells really well.  Not saying for you to make and sell yoru stuff on ebay, just look at their metal art section for ideas.

I really like a lot of the wall hanging pieces that are just various types of brushed and scored metals in cool patterns.

Like check this out for a quick first hit example

(I actually have some square pieces similiar to this I bought years ago)

As you can see a lot of these would be prety simple to make.  Just some shiny aluminum panels and some various dremel bits and what not to make patterns.  But they do look cool and sell well as art for a modern styled house decor.
