Damn side pinning
    #20248578 - 07/09/14 03:55 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

How long unti rot? On the other side of container have pin sets on bottom corners hoping they grow through top. Will the pins growing down mature underneath?

I don't think they will rot before you dunk for round 2 so you should be able to just harvest them then.

What's easiest way to get it out later to dunk? I feel like the coir isn't that colonized and will fall apart.

Possibly impatience? Well your gonna have to do it so razor blade the plastic so you can take it off the sides and buy a new tub is probably best if u can't flip the tub. After you harvest dunk and place a black bag with some small holes in the bottom corner in your dunk water and use this to pick up your cake drain the bag until its just the cake in the bag and use the bag to carefully place in the new tub and now you have a blackout liner so hopefully that may deter side pins then just cover the top w a thin layer of verm...
Cuts down on half the stress
Best idea I could think of. Hope if u try this it works like I'm thinking

I would just harvest the top then flip it out for the side pins, put another tub the same size in that one then flip them both then harvest side pins.. then dunk it if you think it needs it. Probably just kinda float it with some water in the tray it's in

It shrank so much after I put it in the FC. The top is starting to pin nicely so no worries anymore. I'll flip after flush , adding a trashbag liner will prevent side pinning ? Later ill post a pic  before harvest for the hell of it since it's my first. Thanks everyone

Side pinning is due to the microclimate produced between the sub and the container wall as it shrinks.
Plastic (like a trash bag) liner will shrink with the sub preventing this microclimate.
Attached fruit wont rot.  Detached fruit wont rot.  Rot is not normally something you need to worry about unless you have major contams.
Also no need to slash the plastic, just fill it with water, colonized sub floats.
