Birthed, fruiting 1wk, weird coloring on BRF cakes...help identifying?

10 jars, some B+ and some Creeper, all birthed a week ago 7/8. Dunk for 24 hours, rolled in dry verm, into the SGFC with correct holes and perlite. Room temp always between 76 and 78. Mist and fan 4 times daily.
The mycelium began to colonize the outer verm, but after a couple days it looks as if all the cakes took on a gray color. Using the forums I could not identify what this means. There is no cobweb like growth, it's the mycelium that looks gray--not even just like the blueish color, the whole cake.
In the pictures it kind of looks green to me...which I imagine is bad news for these cakes.

Anyone have any idea?

I would add more perlite in there, about 4 inches or so

Looks like bruising, probably from lack of moisture. Give em' a good misting.

Right on. Thanks for the quick replies. I'll up the moisture they're getting.

I would constantly mist the perlite in my SGFC, that thing held humidity horribly.. just don't directly mist the mushrooms.

SGFC hold humidity great when set up right
4-5 inches perlite and the whole thing raised so air can come in th bottom. You will see no condensation on the walls which is good, it means the temp inside is the same as outside due to all the fresh air coming in
Mist mushrooms directly every time, there are a few types of mushrooms that don't like it, cubes are fine

Misting the mushrooms directly can cause aborts, you can choose to listen to this guy if you wan't, i suggest you do your own research.

In my own experience a pin will abort if even a droplet of water rests on top, i don't know how you can say it is not even close to true.

With cakes i have always dunked and then misted only the perlite, i personally have had better experience misting the perlite to keep up RH. Misting cakes directly seems like it would just be an attempt to further hydrate your cake, which probably wouldn't be that effective anyways.
It is odd that you say it is necessary when my best results with cakes & sgfc method were completely exempt of misting cakes directly.

you got everything backwards, it's surface humidity that truly matters which we get when we mist, thats 100% right on the surface of the cakesso no misting isn't just to replace moisture it provides the microclimate needed for god pinsets, i'd like to see your best results and i'm not being a dick when i say that i am sincere. rh in the chamber is just a tool we use to help us out and lighten the work load

It is.....we mist the cakes to replace lost moisture from evaporation.
Evaporation off the cakes is a main pinning trigger.
Evaporation off the cakes will help humidify the chamber.

Naw i understand, it isn't dickish to wan't to see what i'm preaching. It has been a while, and i'm rusty on the actual knowledge needed to really give someone advice on cultivation. I should have instead just merely shared my experience. I don't know if it makes a difference but i always allowed my jars to pin before fruiting, i started off misting directly and had tons of aborts (maybe i was misting too much?). After i switched to misting the perlite directly (There is still micro amounts of water hitting the cake no matter where you mist) i had better results. If i still had pictures of my cakes i would post em up.
I really shouldn't have told someone NOT to mist, i realize now i should have just shared my personal experience.

yeah probably misting too much, you want lots of evaporation from it or a waterlogged sub will just sit there and do nuthing
