had like six fruits in jar and birthed. no further pinning or growth in FC
    #20246504 - 07/09/14 07:36 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

whats up. i had a mini mycojar that was fully colonized and had 5 or 6 fruits in the jar and multiple knots and pins. i birthed the jar into a mini fish aquarium. its ventilated up top and i melted 3 holes in the bottom as well as 2 holes on either side at the level of the perlite. i mist and fan 5-6 times a day. since birthing yesterday morning, the existing fruits are peeling away from what seems to be a super healthy cake and seem to be just fine, however, i dont see any further action from the knots and pins. the conditions are generally 70-75 degrees, i'm in south la and am keeping the humidity very high IMO. its only been 24 hours, should i change anything? or is it just too early to tell. any feedback would be appreciated. i have some pics on my phone and will attempt to upload. thanks in advance.

1. dunk your cakes
2. roll them in vermeculite
3. ditch the aquarium
4. make a proper sgfc

then you should be good to go!

what would you suggest as a proper fc for one cake. its my last one. lost one to contam when i dunked and the other try never colonized......this is the last jar until i can buy more supplies. would a 3 liter bottle suffice or should i just scrap the whole fucking thing and leave it to chance. i want to succeed but am afraid to lose this last cake if i f with it too much.

If you are really serious about this, you will take the time to make a proper FC and make a bunch of jars. At least ten if you want real results. I wish you luck on your next round. Dont give up, and read until your eyes bleed then read some more. Its all trial and error essentially.

yeah, first try, its a really cool hobby and very interesting. i am just hoping for an eighth at this point. its been 12 years since the old cow pasture kool aids i held so near and dear. i will continue to read and learn as best i can. i suppose next time ill try the sgfc in a rubbermaid tote, just seemed like a bit much for 3 jars. thanks for your quick response, that said......with my one cake, moving forward, should i just mist and fan and ride it out in my dumb ass aquarium or get a 3 liter. i have perlite and planned to get some verm for a dunk after first flush unless thats a waste of time also.

when your next batch is ready you deffo want them in a Properly built SGFC!
One cake alone in a sgfc will work but it works best when there are several cakes next to each other.
you'll need a much bigger tub, and 4-6" perlite in the bottom.

a 3L bottle would be MUCH better than just throwing it away.
For me this is a beautiful and exiting hobby rather than just getting high yields fast.
A little exp of what will or wont work certainly wont harm ya anything!

:goodluck:

I agree with spacechildo, a 2-3L bottle riddled with holes and some perlite in the bottom, a few inches I'd guess...maybe do a search and see what's worked for people, I know it's been done just be sure to go with a design with holes all over cause fresh air is very important.

You should definitely invest in a set of 1/2 pint short tapered jars and a bag of Brf and vermiculite, you can make a shitload of cakes with that yourself for very cheap and you don't need a PC to sterilize them...don't give your money to the company's for things you can do easily and better yourself(you don't know how long at jar sat around after being sterilized or what exactly they put in it)

This hobby is definitely great and can be a lot of fun and it's very rewarding when you do it from scratch..especially when you get to check out your grow while feeling the effects of a harvest :mushroom2: :chunk:

everybody is giving great advice but not answering your question. so to answer your question, your setup is good enough jus give it more time. a day is too early, give it a week.

if you plan on doing more of the hobby definantly do some research to optimize your setup and run more efficiently.

EDIT* i disagree with the person who told you to start over. i suggest you use this an experience to learn. first hand experience is the best and will help you on your next try more than jus giving up and throwing stuff away.
