Jusssayin. He has white plastic on top of the SFGC. I was saying to take off the lid while he installs some plexiglass in the top to allow some light thought. And depending on the strain I've heard plenty of time that you can leave the top off the SGFC and increase misting decrease fanning.e.g. tiger mushrooms

If you lived in a humid environment, yes, but this advice is very relative to someones geographic location. This advice would fuck my grows up.
What are tiger mushrooms?

Okay. You're talking about a different species and not a different cubensis strain.

Ill find coconuts on different tree's and say "I like this strain better." Words are simply vehicles for transportation of information.

Right.. except some words have pretty different meanings (like strain and species) so you'd be conveying the wrong information if you aren't careful.

My lid is clear, not white. I don't know how it looks white to you
And I'm finding out that lids on jars can make a difference in mycelium growth rate. With these first cakes, they shrunk into the center as well as down, pulling the dry verm layer down. Self healing lids with a nice tyvek Ge filter seems to work really well. Nice even growth, but it also could be that I used my own ground brf that wasn't ground completely into flour.
Quick questions, how do ph levels affect growth? Do cubes like to be more basic? Would adjusting the pH of the water I use in the dunk make a difference. It's too easy to balance some water.

If you follow the tek, there won't be any issues with pH levels, but they do well in a slightly basic/neutral pH as evidenced by the success of growers who add gypsum which reduces pH

Gypsum dont REDUCE pH, the metabolism happening with your mycel creates an acidic environment where both mold and our mycel thrive.
By upping the pH, either with fast acting lime, or slow acting carbonate the molds are scared off while our mycel still handles it.
gypsum would slightly raise pH too, but idk if its by much. Long time no high school chemistry

no. the ratio of gypsum to the other substrate agents is ridiculously low to change it's consistency/texture.

My gypsum is finely grounded powder, so no. the garden pellet gypsum dissolves in water so I cant see that making a difference either
It can help avoid getting grains clumped up together after the PC run, but I rinse my grains thoroughly and have never had any problems with grains sticking to each other anyway.
it does supply calsium that the fruit bodies love though, and sulphates are easily broken down by mycel.
I wouldnt rely on it as my sole pH adjuster though, IF you use something that require a pH adjustment..
