Can I duct tape my bags of sub while Pasteurizing?
    #20245131 - 07/08/14 10:33 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

I'm having issues where my gallon ziplock  which are double bagged are getting tiny holes from the heat from Pasteurizing. Can I duct tale the bottom and sides? Or will it melt it?

I even have a wash cloth at the bottom or the pot to prevent this. But I figure duct tale will help with the holes that are caused from heat.

How do you do the over method? Do you have a good link?

If I could avoid water at all with pasteurizing, then hell yeah, I would!

yea dude!
i mean, ur can fit a whole families worth of turkey in there, and thats not utilizing all the space, cause its an irregular shape.  so u can imagine, when substrate is shredded, how much u can jam in those sweet jon's!!  takes longer than jars to reach internal temp but...u save time just in sheer capacity.  at least with pirateswazey's way you do

yeah i had to get more sub ready as i only had a few qt's i needed to do but it looked so cute in the bag i d to get more...and more...then after pasturizing i figured y not just mix it in the bag....then i figured y not just leave it in the bag,it's now colonizing nicely and should be fruiting in about a week or so
