Agar question
    #20244126 - 07/08/14 07:13 PM (10 years, 6 months ago)

So I was on my way to isolating about 10 isolates when I made my latest transfers. They were made from strong sectors with very strong rhizomorphic growth.

The transfers are growing out (almost quarter size)  but almost all of them have gone completely tomatense, fuzzed up, and really only show a translucent "halo" around them.

There are several plates that still exhibit rhizomorphic growth so I don't know what gives.
Is it possible to still see sectoring on tomatense growth? Also how do you decide what is more ideal growth?

From what I've been told they are the same mycelium...they look different because of nutrient levels...so if you take tomentose myc and put it to less nutritious agar it will get rhizo, but I always hear to select nice looking rhizo growth so I dunno what's up, maybe it's just easier to tell it's healthy myc when it's rhizo and easier to see sectoring
