Progress of colonization
    #20213965 - 07/02/14 04:35 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Hi guys,

1st post on here and 1st time growing.

I've had my substrate jars containing Ecuadorians colonizing for about 2 weeks now at between 75f - 81f, in the dark and 4 out of the 5 1/2 pint jars are showing good signs of growth (one almost complete) although one is showing absolutely nothing, contaminants included.

1. What reasons for this could there be and should i just give up on that jar?

2. The is quite a variation in the degree of growth in  each jar, what could be the possible reasons for this?

Thanks

1. Yes, I would give up on that one....it could be many things that cause that.

2. Random MS genetics.

C. Keeping them in the dark is old info, ambient room light is better.

It could also be due to an invisible bacterial contaminant.  You'll know one way or the other when you pitch it.

Cheers guys.

As for the ambient light issue. Why is this? Is it a case of improvement or just that it doesn't matter if it's in the dark or not?

Some say it improves, but I've never seen anything that proved it conclusively to me.  Did you throw the jar out?  Did it stink?

Cool. Well the 4 jars that have colonized are doing good so far by the looks of it (pics to follow) and I've binned the 5th jar but there was no smell so I masked up and pulled apart the substrate to see if anything was going on inside and nada. Not a thing!?!

I've noticed there seems to be some condensation build up inside the furthest along jars. Is this normal?
