Go for whole oats, they are cheaper and badass enough..
But if you must have rye just keep trying health food places, or a feed store might have them although I'm not positive there, they seem too expensive for farmers to use on animals but I dunno nothin bout nothin

I've heard wheat berries are similar as well and also cheap
I just use plain whole oats, they look like big grass seed kinda with the little shell on em. They work well and you get plenty of innoc points

I saw a study a guy on here did about the best substrate for stones production...he did many grows with all kinds of grains and oats and rye did the best, I believe a mixture of the two was the very top but oats was close in yield and I also knew they worked fine for cubes and are like $15 for 50lbs so hey

Millet can also be very cheap and has multiple inoculation points. Millet can be found at all the health food stores in my area. That would be anther good grain to get. But wild bird seed is always readily available and cheap as hell too. To the OP have you tried to pick up some wild bird seed?

Oh, okay. I'll just go ahead and find you a store in the mid atlantic, then. Just anywhere in that third of the country will do?

dude, whole foods has it man, u have to go in morning, when their bulk buyer is there. he/she is the dude/chick filling those bins with the scoops. ask for rye or wheat or oats, etc. the whole foods i go to, rye was cheapest of the 3. if they not there, ask front desk to place special order. they all use similar vendors/warehouse to some extent (I'm also in mid atlantic region). u sure they don't have wheat berries in the "scoop ur own" bins? they give u a 5% discount for buying a 50# bag. find a buddy who works there, and get an extra 20% off (they have to buy it, so give them the cash) its still more than a feed store i hear, but i live in the city, many many miles from a feed store i also had many problems with WBS, so i feel ya on that one!

Amazon is the only place i have found that is decent for 50 lbs. Prices have gone up tho, azure farms who used to have 43$ 50lb bag on prime is no longer selling whole rye for some reason. I am thinking of switching to rye grass seed, its what i see commercial growers use more.http://www.amazon.com/Rye-Berries-25-Bag-Each/dp/B000RHVIQG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1404892390&sr=8-3&keywords=rye+berries this is what i get. Shipping sucks, i wish it was prime. I wonder if I can contact azure farms.

No rye grass seed is not the same, but can be used. I hear you want to enrich it with BRF but don't quote me on that.

A few I found that might have what you're looking if you want to buy online.
I'd also do a google search for these terms for finding more places that sell bulk grains: "[your area] lds cannery" "[your state] food co-op" "[your state] farmers market" "[your state, county, city] milling company "[your state, county, city]local grain *farm
