No. I realize they think they are though.

Not yet, no, they want to though.
With hybrids it's the same thing. This is a stupid bill. Banning GMO technology is idiotic. It just goes to show the legislature is filled with common fools without any scientific background.

Hybrids are not the same as GMO. Hybrids are natural. You take 2 plants that have good traits and breed them and hope some of their seed has those desired traits. GMO you change the genetics of the plant. With corn they changed the genetics so the plant now produces a pesticide. I don't want my corn to grow it's own pesticide.
How many scientific people or company's come out with great new chemicals or discovery that's was touted as safe turned out to be the exact opposite. To introduce a completely new protein that grows it's own pesticide and claim it's safe after only a few years is crazy. I'll take my food without gmo please.

your non-gmo corn already makes it' own pesticide, it's just not particularly potent
you can of course have corn that has been sprayed with pesticides

I think the bigger issues are monoculture and putting highly experimental seed out there that can and will have unforeseeable effects as it combines with the planet's heirloom genetics. It's colossal risk that's not justified by extra profit for a few companies or nice long french fries at a fast food restaurant or anything else I've seen put forth as a reason.
