July 5th
Ages back I inoculated a plate with both CRS & AA+ spores. Got good germination, transferred a few times and nocked up a couple quarts. Spawned to a mini mono and had some interesting results. The fruits were odd, no leucism, no rust spores. But the fruits had some bell shaped caps, the color of the fruits was odd (cap color was almost the same as the stipe color) and the spores for the first flush were blackish not purple.
So I germinated some of those spores and transferred once. Growth is a little tomentose but looks clean. So I inoculated 2 pint masters for G2G and one 2 quart jar to do a quick mini mono. Can't wait to see how these turn out. According to workman the F2 generation should exhibit a lot of variation.
July 17th
Jars are moving a little slow but appear clean. Just gave em a shake

From the F1 generation? Yes I took 2. One was quite strong on agar despite the fruit it came from was a touch mature. It is already slanted and on grains. The other was from a young cluster but it had some bacteria riding along. When I went to clean it up I noticed pins forming so I transferred the pin instead. Seems to be doing well now in spite of its advanced age
Both clone cultures seem to be quite aggressive and have pinned invitro. I believe this is what workman refer's to as hybrid vigor
Also I will be giving out 6 or 7th gen prints to all the journal club crew if this is a success

Hey, no problem, glad to be here. This is an experiment I talked about doing myself, but never started. Watching is much easier So far, your results are as predicted for a successful cross. Hopefully you will see a mixture of red spored, leucistic and with luck, the ultimate prize of a white mushroom with red spores in the next generation. Good luck!

Well I got a little lazy on this, too many renovations and summer shit getting in my way. But I have not forgotten it. The 2 quart jar really took its sweet time, I am a little concerned its a touch bacterial. Gave it a test shake the other day and it seems to be recovering ok so I will still spawn it. The master jars were G2G to 10 quarts and a couple more pints. They seem to be doing alright tho, might give a little shake soon to get em to finish up quick.
Trying to decide if I should do a bunch of mini monos or a couple big ones. Maybe a 66 quart, a 30 quart and 2 20 quart monos to get some spread with the genetics.

If you are concerned about possibly contaminated spawn i would say make a few smaller tubs so all your eggs aren't in one basket but i have always preferred smaller subs.

I think the 10 quarts I G2G look good, I'm more worried about the 2 quart jar. I plan to do him up to a mini mono by himself regardless.
