My First Grow - Burma

So this will be my first grow journal. Here is my SAB:

The edges are a little rough, but I think it will do? I taped a sheet of shower curtain over the holes to help keep out drafts. And of course that window will be shut once I get started.
Once the jars are ready, inoculation shall begin!
EDIT: Thanks, Mazz!

Top left of your screen where it says Welcome Belts, there is a pics link just under your name. Upload one there first then copy the URL it gives you.

Oh, and yes that SAB will do just fine. Close the window and turn off the AC and you'll be ok. Good luck!

The deed is done.
Here are the 6 inoculated jars. Used a whole 10ml syringe. Is it true that it is unnecessary to tape down the holes because the dry vermiculite will keep out contaminants, or should I tape for safe measure?

Equilibrium - highly underrated. Correct, tape is not needed because of dry verm layer.

The lids and the needle had alcohol on them. I may have went a little overboard sterilizing things. They weren't drenched, but they also weren't dry. Would the alcohol be enough to "ruin" the dry verm?
EDIT: Yeah, it's totally underrated!!!

alcohol does not sterilize. Flame sterilize your needle. The first couple of drops will cool it. Using alcohol after flame sterilizing makes the needle no longer sterile.

Fuuuuu.... I read that you "can use the alcohol wipes that come with the needle between jars". >.<
I did flame sterilize but then I used alcohol.
Does this mean my chances of contam are super high now?

At best, wiping a flame sterilized needle with alcohol is pointless.
At worst, you recontaminate the needle

Well all I can do is wait and see. If worse comes to worst I'll know how to do it correctly next time. XD

You can wipe your needle in between holes of the SAME jar but if you flame sterilize and are careful then iso is not even necessary. Otherwise, if your first jar is contaminated then all your jars will be unless you flame it again.

This also applies to "in between holes of the same jar". If you fear you've picked up a contam after taking the needle out of a hole, then flame sterilize again. wiping the needle with anything may just add a contam to it

Be patient my friend. It took me literally three weeks to get any growth at all in my jars, and here's how they look now...

Nice!!! I just worked myself into a worry reading through grow journals here and seeing people spot mycelium like 3 or 4 days after inoc.
I've been monitoring the temperature in my room and during the day it averages from 78ish-85ish and drops down to around 70 at night.

start worrying around the 2 week mark. fresher spores germinate faster, 6 days is normal. anywhere btw 3days to 3 weeks for me to see germination. 85 is a bit high actually but can be hard to avoid now in the summer..
