Bleach and Spores
    #20209727 - 07/01/14 08:19 AM (10 years, 6 months ago)

Does bleach kill spores? I want to bleach my incubation and fruiting chamber. But if I have to wipe it down with water to eliminate any possibility of bleach residue dosnt that defeat the whole purpose?

Totally unnecessary.

Colonizing jars/bags have filters, and fruiting is not a sterile process.

Incubating is not even needed, room temp is just fine.

Yes, bleach kills spores.....but they will not kill the spores that are in the jars unless you squirt bleach in the jars.

2 things not sure where you at right now but

1 DONT INCUBATE especially not now in the heat of summer im telling you ive had many contamination problums my first grows due to high incubation temp 80-85 store them somewhere that is a constant temp and not above 78-79F IMO. also make sure they are not air tight where you leave them.High temp is a big problum for contams. Right now my jars are inncubating in my basement contant 70F and are doing well, their their because the rest of my house is to hot.

2.it dosent matter really, what i do is just spray a cloth or paper towel of w.e then wipe the entire enclosure or whatever your sanitizing and then give it an alchol mist and let it dry but that might even be over kill

As far as FAE, I have a air pump that is hooked up to a humidifier. So no need to micropore tape the holes or leave foil over the lids that have holes? As far as where I am, I'm going for my 2nd attempt. Lost the first round due to wet spot. Trying to really treat my sanitation and sterilization process to avoid wet spot in this batch.

Please explain.

FAE is something the chamber should be doing constantly on it's own, without electronic garbage.

Humidifiers are only good for greenhouses....never use them for cakes or bulk in SGFCs or Monotubs.

No....your dry verm layer is your contam filter, and the foil is only used to keep moisture out during sterilization.

After sterilization the foil gets removed and the holes remain open and exposed so the dry verm layer can stay dry.

And we are central air whores here and average temp in my basement is 65 in the summer. So I was incubating to 76 last time around. I think my failure was in the half ass job of incubating in a sterile environment. And hmmm...I bought a kit from I think it was spores 101 that came with all of it labeled "automated grow kit" they said when fruiting you want humidity high as possible.

Lots of fresh air means lots of evaporation....which means lots of moisture in the air, which means high humidity.

This is why we mist the substrate, so there is lots of evaporation happening.

Use one of the bins to make a SGFC.

Use the other bin to store the jars/bags in.

Sell/toss the heater and air pump.

Oh and spores101 will do nothing but take your money and run with it.

They are notorious around here for ripping people off.

Ok so while incubating don't worry about the air pump and humidifier and just make my own SAB. And the humidifier still isn't a good idea when fruiting? Sorry to keep questioning after one screw up and a million different answers I really want this dialed in. Read a lot of different tek that have somewhat conflicting info info. Using BRF

And obviously there's nothing to spray while they are jars.
