Re: 4cc's per 1/2 pint during innoculation?

I use 4-5cc's per jar everytime I inoculate. Don't expect to see quicker germination though. It still takes 2-3 days to see growth in your jars. But colonization speed will more than double compared to using 1/4cc per hole. When using this much inoculant, a day or two after germination you can expect to have mycelium covering almost the entire surface. Then you just let the mycelium thicken up and reach the center of your cake and your done. It takes my jars about 7-12 days to completely colonize. A good trick to speed things up is remove the tape from your holes soon after you see germination. I usually wait until I have a few dime sized spots of growth in each jar before I pull the tape off. It really does helps speed things up. Also, when using this much inoculant, make sure to swipe the needle in both directions far as you can across the side of the glass(wow, that was suprisingly hard to word) This will ensure that every inoculation site meets up and grows as a whole instead of in sections. This will also greatly aid in colonization speed. The Lizard,

It's been about 55 hours since innoculation, and there's nothin' yet so that's why i posted this topic, i'll just give it more time, it may not be 80-85, i might have to adjust temp, but i'll give it a lot longer.

if you use 4 cc's per jar, will that increase your yield or is that simply for speed purposes? i only ask because using 4 times more spores per jar also means shelling out 4 times as much money for the syringes. so if i had 20 jars and i inoculated them with 1cc each (4 1/4cc injections) would i just be able to use 2 10cc syringes? thanks...

Only 55 hours. Don't worry, wait for around 5 or 6 days and then you should be able to see something. It somethimes takes that long.

Just for speed. I guess in a sense it could increase yeilds due to less chance of contamination (the mycellium takes over quickly). But yeah, It's just for speed.-Good day, all

Yep, using that much inoculant is just for speed. I haven't noticed a difference in yield. 808, if your buying your syringes I wouldn't recomend using that much inoculant. Could get quite spendy. I make my own syringes as I need them. Its alot cheaper. Once you get a good flush remember to take prints. Then read up on how to make your own syringes. Its not hard at all, and you can use as much inoculant as you want. I usually do 3 jars with one syringe. Its really nice not having to depend on spore providers. The Lizard,
