Cardboard Cloning Question

About to attempt my first clone on cardboard, but had a quick question about the sterilization and hydration process.
Firstly, this is the tek which I plan to follow. http://www.shroomery.org/8512/Cardboard-Cloning-Tek by ATWAR.
The step I have question about is this one. "Take a canning jar and fill ¼ full with water. Screw a plastic lid prepared with a poly-fill wad on the top to filter incoming air drawn in while cooling. Place the trimmed cardboard wedge in the microwave and cook at boiling for 10-15 minutes. I achieve this by microwaving at full power until it boils, then turn the heat setting down. I find a low enough setting to allow cycles of boiling, then cooling without boiling over."
Unfortunately, I don't have a plastic lid to use in the microwave. I do have tyvek, and polyfil however. What do you think the best alternative method to this step would be? I was thinking of either somehow just securing tyvek over the top and use that as both the lid and filter, or also using the traditional canning jar lids over tyvek and then placing the jar in boiling water. What do you guys think? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Id have to say the double boiler method sounds better.
Boiling water, then jar with water in that until it boils for a bit.

If you see the word 'microwave'in a tek, it's a good idea to look elsewhere. Furthermore, cardboard is a poor substrate for cloning. Look into agar work. RR

Cardboard just doesn't germinate spores very well. So you can easily clone onto it, have it grow out and look clean, then when you try to put it on grain it contams all to hell.
Agar FTW. Save the cardboard and grow some Oysters on it.

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.
