Thats the impression I got, I hung out west of the river only. Feels like there was way more to see and do there. Would love to go back round this time of year in the summer and check it out

I think the question is irrelevant because people are going to move where they want for subjective reasons. Then businesses will follow. If you're trying to run a city like a business you're going to want to pack as many people into the smallest area as possible using the fewest resources. All while sucking as much money from them as possible and telling them how great it is. I'll take my piece of land with a house and space for a garden etc over the high rise apartment.

1. Attracting new residents

People move in your town because:

- They found a job
- They met someone
- They like the safety
- They like the health and education
- They like parks and recs

There's also that segment of the pop that will go for large agricultural land and people looking to live in far from everything.

You can't please anybody, but you can at least try to divide your city in sectors that supports different interests

2. Attracting new businesses

This supports #1 from the get go.

Low taxes, high incentives, startup support, community fairs, organizations, commitees, anything really. Business needs business to do business.

3. Attracting commercial amenities

- You need a commercial district in the center of the town to accomodate the suburbs around it. The industrial needs to be inland, far away from rivers, forests and landmarks.

- Use the landscape intelligently to create new business opportunities. Ex: There are hills and trees. use them for a forest zip-line park.

4. Retaining population

- Schools
- Hospitals
- parks
- low municipal tax

5. Gaining positive recognition

- festivals
- green space
- Most high tech sewer
- complete underground wiring

You can be pretty creative here.

This sounds like a blueprint for some kind of new reality TV show. There must be a million square miles in asia somewhere ripe for development. Build it and they will come
