Temperature Dropping
    #2017950 - 10/17/03 03:02 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I have a question that I'm just not sure about. Here's the situation:
11 1/2 pint jars innoculated 7 days ago. BRF was used. Mycelium present in all 11 jars. Normally it is around 85 F at this time of year. However, since the project was started it has gotten colder. The jars are being kept at room temperature which is about 71-73 F right now. I know they should be kept at 75-85 F, so should I get some sort of heating device or just leave them as they are?
Thanks for the help. First time grow here

your jars will still grow, albeit a bit slower then usual.. if you want to speed up colonization time, invest in a heater and make an incubator. otherwise, if you dont mind waiting the extra few days (or whatever it might be) then dont worry about it..

put em behind ur computer it should be a little warmer back there  otherwise if concealment is an issue maybe in vest in a small heating pad to put on top of ur jars and cover em up. make sure to layer something between jars so it doesn't get tooo hot!

Watch out though, heating pads = dry heat. That means your jars will dry out faster. Make sure not to set it on high

Im a noob but here is what im going to do... I have an incubator used to incubate lizard eggs. What im going to do is put water and a sponge at the bottom of the incubator and pop the jars in. Im thinking since that it will be inside the incubator, less chance for contam and faster colonization and wont dry out.
