Then again I sort of see a band on the fresher specimens. Can you get a good shot of all the caps?

Some people erroneously think that dog poo has a strong influence on good habitat for P. olivaceus, the truth is that we don't even know these are all P. olivaceus...

Actually no I wouldn't label these olivaceous personally.  I have a tendency of being a jackass.  I think I'm getting better though.
Looks like what I call Lawn cincts.

I found them in newly laid sod and assume they are something like Panaeolus cinctulus, the amount of variation between fruits is nonsense.

The light stems make me think of P. olivaceus or that similar seemingly undescribed species we find in the PNW, but micro would be awesome!

I'm busy this weekend but I'll make time this next week to get them under the scope.

As in there would be about 5-6 in a cluster that looked really similar but a few sod squares over there would be another cluster that looked a lot different. Some were really light stemmed and gilled so I figured they were foes but they printer just as dark as the ones with red stems and jet-black gills. In total we found about 20 different clusters all different looking from one another.

Some kind of thermophilic mushroom, may be an Agaricus or Chlorophyllum
They looked really weird and smelled like anise and garlic. They also have some powdery yellow stuff on the gills edges.
When I pulled the mushrooms up there were ants and termites everywhere. The wood-chips they were growing from were really powdery and well decayed.

I noticed something interesting about those pans.  All the caps that were young and fresh had a shimmering quality like that of micro fine glitter.

I currently have this species growing in a liquid culture that will be inoculated into hpoo and straw in the next few days.  I'm curious how intense the bluing will be on hpoo.  I have an lc of identified cinctulus to fruit next to it for comparison.  Should be fun.

The above mentioned Panaeolus will be colonizing dung/straw in about an hour.  :hotidea:
