Hey guys
I was wanting to try out some Absinthe. But of course, I want to have the active ingredient in it so that I experience the true psychoactive properties.
However, the only Absinthe that I am able to purchase has had only a tiny amount of wormwood added, it is basically a Absinthe flavoured spirit that is 85% alcohol.
Anyway, I have some dried Artemisa absinthium leaf. I was wondering if I could re infuse the wormwood into this drink? If so, how much dried wormwood should I add to the bottle?
It is a 500 ml bottle, 85% alcohol. I am wanting an 'average' level of psychoactivity. PS no, I'm not planning on drinking the whole bottle at once obviously.

So, I take it when it says 30g wormwood, that is meaning dried leaf?

You have to distill after you infuse the Wormwood or your Absinthe will be undrinkably bitter and toxic. No shit, undistilled Wormwood tincture is only good for killing intestinal parasites.
If you're going to go to that trouble, you might as well make some from scratch tho if the Absinthe you have is 85%, it might be pretty good - not that Hills shite.
If you have Hills do yourself a mercy and pour it down the drain.

or elsewhere, its costly, im not sure how much all of this other foolishness is costing you though, but you can buy the shit all over the net, and it is legal to import, it is just not legal to sell in the U.S., there is a lot of helpful info about absinthe at erowid as well

Please dont do that! You will fux0r your liquor because you will take bitter-as-bile components along with the essential oil into it.
A far better alternative would be to add five drops of absinth essential oil to your liquor.

definatly worth buying on the internet, a bottle will cost you a bit but i have had mine for 6+ months now, it only takes me 2 drinks to feel messed up, it will also taste a lot better if you order it

Grumbles is right, the thujon levels in real absinthe are not high enough to have a psychoactive effect. You would die of alchohol poisoning before getting high on thujon. I love absinthe though, it's a great drink and I enjoy the whole sugar cube ritual. I have 2 bottles right now, a La Blue and a Amer. Don't make the homemade stuff. Real true absinthe has to be distilled and like other people have said it's readily available all over the web.

Painting and playing guitar is not the same thing as making absinthe. Absinthe-making is a very specific craft, similar to wine-making, or even guitar-making. If you want to play guitar, are you going to make your own guitar, or buy one from someone who knows what they're doing?
-And yes, I agree that the effect is nothing spectacular. Awhile back, I purchased some strong absinthe and actually mixed in extra wormwood tincture, to give it a super-high thujone content. It does give you a pot-like head-buzz of sorts. Of course, the shit also gets you so drunk that it's hard to sort out the effects.
People who are mostly likely to feel the effects are people who have never really taken any psychedelics. If you're experienced with psychedelics, the effects aren't going to impress you very much.

You're wrong man, if you think you had potent absith and you didn't feel 'significant' effects, you got jipped. Try going to Europe and ordering a 500mL bottle of strong absinth, after 5 shots, you won't know where your head is... from personal experience, New Years 2004, I had around 400mL of absinth, and I had open/closed eye visuals like you would on something like shrooms but not quite, however just as strong. What I drank I know was true absinth because it was made by this guy that destils amazing Macedonian moonshine. That shit was real, and the effects were as good and better than what it's hyped up to be.
Most of the shit on the net is BS. If you're planning to buy labeled absinth, I recommend Edouard 72 label. It's not as potent as the shit I had on newyears, but it showed pretty good results. Consider I've tried over a dozen different types of absinth, and finding a private destiller would be the best way to go in my books, but if not, Edouard 72 is top notch.

Although I do agree that absinthe tastes alright (kind of like jagermeister) and does have a unique intoxication it doesn't have any sort of significance to it. Maby somebody here has had some sort of high potentcy "thujone extract" but that is NOT the same as Absinthe.
