Dr Fuma said: Thanks jondspops I like that golden orange one too really stood out for sure. Nice finds you got there yourself. Can I ask a noob question, are those small pans in first pic "cincts" ? I been tryn to learn all I can and I see alot of look alikes that I don't even pay much attention to. I only have so many hours in a day and can't learn everything quick enough lol.
No they are paps. That's I've seen for Panaeolus species this year except for a scattered Pan ant or three. Just like the way it looked.
Hey gold Jesus -- can't you photoshop that pic to make the donuts into mushrooms?? Now that would be Sweet. C'mon. Help a brotha out...

Here are some random finds from South Florida.

Here are a few I posted in the ID request but never heard back from any one. So just enjoy the fungi porn!

Some I found directly in cow dung! Posted a request about these as well since they look active but did not hear anything.

Looking blue right here... Okay, it is hard to see but I saw it. :P

And last here are my KNOWN active finds: Panaeolus cinctulus

Lots of crazy looking fungus out there this season! Hopefully I will hear something good about the ones I requested an ID on. Good luck my fellow Florida Hunters!

Crossroads: it looks like those two are potentially cyans that you have there. See if you can get a better shot of them close up. They will be whitish grey to start and stain really dark blue esp the stems.
Govtname: that is a great story. Closest I have come was scaring off some Hispanic dudes one time and having someone else drive by and see parked in the spot and drive on -- with a grin. As far as those mushrooms on the right I see what appears to be Pan paps there -- not cyans. Remember the cyans will look white before you pick them -- not dark grey at all. And if the stems are reddish they aren't cyans either. Sometimes the paps have a coating of white powder on the stems but they are reddish underneath. I found my first cyan of the season yesterday. It had a little yellowish center of the cap and I carried it around for a few mins and checked again and the stem went from delicate white to DARK blue. Almost black looking bc it bruised so intensely. They bruising is hard to miss on those. I didn't take a pic but I'll check to see if it's still pic worthy.

governmentname said: Jondspops- Are you thinking the one in the original picture from today - top right? Red looking stem? I think it may be somewhat of a lighting thing mixed with my tile making it look more like that. I went back to find it and couldn't. They all had noticeable bluing, some more than others but all apparent. Even on the original picture top right you can see how dark it is where I cut it. They may be some other active strain? I am getting pretty good at spotting the paps the red stem does give it away (only came back with 2 today) DR Fuma- This isnt a close up per se. But you should be able to zoom in on them all nicely as its a decent sized file.

I stand corrected. These pictures prove your point about the lighting. Nice bunch of Panaeolus cyanescens. I wonder how much that would be when they dry. The one thing about them is you have to gather so many to get any significant weight out of them. I have never eaten them fresh -- wonder what a decent dose of fresh would be as well. Nice finds. I agree with Fuma that you are getting pretty good at spotting and finding FL's abundant actives. That's why Florida is so great. We haven't really had the best conditions lately IMO since a week or two ago but they are still out there. Summer's daily soakings don't seem to be as consistent as they are in some years. I guess today is the first day of summer though. Can't wait to see what the peak of season brings. I am surprised that we aren't seeing more posts from other folks around the state yet though....hmmmmmm Happy hunting!!
