I picked mushrooms by the bucketload in Wales, (the mushroom capital of Europe!), from mid Sept. onwards, untill I stopped about 5 years ago. This year, I go to look, (Mid Oct.)but find not a single mushroom of any variety!, what's going on? Is it the dry weather? how will a very dry August and quite dry September/start of October affect the crop this year? Please reply, if you have any thoughts

Yes, it's bad,
The whole country has been hit by liberty cap drought. The UK government is calling on international aid organisations to import supplies of magic mushroom to hand out to the thousands of psilocybin starved hunters.
This is the first time in over twenty years that such a devastating crop failure has hit the UK, and it's left many people without a single liberty cap.
Black market prices have gone through the roof, with mushrooms changing hands for as much as ?300 for a single specimen.
One UK hunter had this to say to reporters "its crazy....prices are through the roof, I blame global warming myself, the governmet should do something to help us....we need shrooms".
The UN has stated that it will start heli-droping imported shrooms over grassy areas within the next few days, if the situation does not improve. But for many shroom lovers, its just too little too late.
It remains to be seen whether the UK will continue to suffer the magic mushroom drought in coming years.

Went hunting again this weekend, an hour search lead to a puny haul of 10 tiny liberty caps.
Found about 10 fly agaric too.
Although I have found good amounts of Liberty Caps right up until late november in the past, I fear that this season will produce only a fraction of past seasons hauls. I also wonder what effect this might have on next years crops, seeing as relativiely few spores have been shed.

Its not the crazy ass harvests of previous years. But they are quite a few around, and now it seems we're heading for bloody frost, snow and toads....
