Do you know what I truly despise? Updates that requires me to restart my computer...
    #20138417 - 06/16/14 08:06 AM (9 years, 8 months ago)

And even worse, update that forces me to restart within 24 hours.

Bitch, I got like 50 tabs opened, why the fuck can't you update it without restarting everything???? Its 2014, we have glasses connected to the Internet but we can't have non-restart updates??? Bullshit.

So can someone please tell me, why can't they work around that restart thing?

There's a thing in your browser settings that saves the tabs when you exit the browser.

That's a work around.

We do, actually. In Linux.

Eh, no, not by definition. I run Ubuntu on my desktop and it asks me for restarts about as often as Win8.1 does. The only difference is that Windows is a bit more adamant about it. I tend to ignore it for about a week on either system before giving in and rebooting.

Yeah same here. Actually I have windows asking me to restart to finish installing updates for about 2 weeks now. I just tell it to fuck off until I'm ready.

But ya you can save all your open tabs so that when the browser restarts it opens them back up. Firefox has that feature built in, or tab mix plus extends that option even more. Not sure about Chrome and such, but probably.

Its not about the open tabs. Its about the principle.

Ubuntu only asks me to restart after I install updates, it asks for the once in a while. My favorite part is that it doesn't try to update whenever I turn it off when I'm using a laptop. I hate being forced to wait an hour before I can turn of my battery powered device.

I hear ya, then just when you think you made it through, you know, the updates are done, the computer has restarted, you think to yourself, "Yes I'm back on!". Then as the computer starts back up, you are led back to yet ANOTHER "0% out of 100% complete" screen. It's like, really? Fuck you.
