I was thinking in order to retain moisture and raise umidity I should just put some cling wrap over the cooler that my casing is in...do shrooms need air exchange or do they not?

Not rotary fans... Lift lid/cling wrap, fan with piece of cardboard, magazine, etc I do it once in the morning before school, once when i get home, and once when before i get to bed

fanning just means taking a piece of cardboard and fanning out the co2 buildup. no fans necessary, just fan for a few minutes man that is all

Yes! And an occasional spray to bring humidity back up after fanning.

I have a question somewhat related to this topic... if I was going to grow shrooms in those mycobag things, would I want to cut holes in the bags after 90-100% colonization? The guides say that some types of mushrooms require this.

You can construct devices/terariums which eliminatethe need for air exchange. Until you do, an "airtight" saran/cling wrap seal is great, open it up and fan it out a few teims a day. Do you know how big your terrarium is?

no there is already air exchange going threw the filter patch on the myco bags.
to answer your question. yes they do. usually two 1/2 inch holes at the top of your terrrarium will help and fan three time a day. i believe that bigger terraiums such as the a clear 106 qt helps with better air quality.
