shining blue shroom on the scottish hills

Ok - I wish i had a picture to go with this,
I am trying to identify a shroom that I found while liberty cap and chanterelle hunting in the Scottish hills.
The shroom - I only found one little family and they were glowing blue, the blue of the pscilosibin.
the mushroom - about 1 - 1 1/2 inches in diameter and pos 2 - 3 inches high, both the stem and the cap shine blue, removing the skin of the cap the flesh is white but quickly bruises blue and the gills are pink, spore colour - dark pink-brown. smell is sweet and earthy and the top of the cap is a tan colour. The caps are fairly round.
Does anyone have a clue what this species is, unfortunately I can't find my identification book but am sure that is there is some strong pscylocibin in the UK - I have just found it.
Peace 2 you all - gotta get bk to the hills

try to get a photo of this.... sounds interesting.
The fact that it has pink gills makes me think it is not from the psilocybin containing familes though.

I think it might be some sort of agaricus (pink gills), they can stain blue too.

Agaricus do not stain blue. Pluteus has pink gills int he young and stains blue but is a wood debris shroom not a pasture shroom.
Stropharia auriginosa and carulea and a few others stain blue but they are not agaricus and do not have pick gills,.

we need a picture to id this shroom if possible.

Do not eat any shroom just becasue it has bluing in it.

ok thanks - will try and get a picture of this asap.
but another question - are there any psilocybins in Britain that this could be, it wasn't just bruising blue - it was glowing!
are there any on-line catalogues of pictures that would help me identify this beautiful fungus?
cheers all -

If the gills really were clay brown, rather than just "pink", and if the spores were purple/brown rather than "pink/brown" then the mystery mushroom could possilby be Psilocybe aeruginosa (also called Stropharia aeruginosa). According to Stamets, this is widespread in the UK, in grassy areas, garderns, parks, and in wood debris. It has a rounded, dome shaped cap, not dissimilar to a normal edible field mushroom, and is a very attractive deep blue colour. In terms of it activity, Stamets lists it as "possibly active", as few tests have been performed. There is a chance that you may have found this mushroom, but we need some pics. However, this may just be wishful thinking, because if the gills were definatley pink, than the mystery mushroom is definaltey not P. aeruginosa.

here in washington this mushroom ( psilocybe aeruginosus) or " blue moons" as we sometimes call it is closely associated with psil. cyan habitat. Several specimins found today while hunting. I know the blue glow you speak of. Bioassay never determined activity with several different "reserchers" getting the same conclusion. however they DO bruise blue. maybe they are just weak. really really weak. Several other inactive psilocybes are popping up here. I found a great patch of psilocybe thrausta a few weeks ago in seattle and the subviscida are cvommon while early season lib hunting. I like to look at these as indicator sprecies because there are usually actives growing nearby.
