stupid. a little cheap ass mini round of plastic can survive pc and this seemingly mega-plastic lid is useless in the same conditions. why would they make a glass container with a bitch lid?

yea i knew pp5 is what to look for, but it doesn't have any recycling symbol anywhere. i thought the clock thing with the arrow pointing to the 6 in pic 2 was a variation of that logo thing that meant it was like a grade above pp5 or something, but i'm glad i asked.
i'm about to check to see if the regular ziploc round lids work on the glass container, but i'm pretty sure they don't have a large enough diameter...
thought i struck gold with this guy as a reusable, large glass agar dish with great visibility that i didn't need to go online for

These are thin, cheap, and have shitty lids but are 5 for a dollar at dollar tree stores and have good visibility. I just bought 20 more. PP5

Yeah, I really like the idea of not piching the petris after plastics one use, so I am really digging these, the only thing is the condensation, and the visibility, but hey, I can manage!
I Def. wish the owner was around to explain better, in lacking areas!

No it was confined to the burner nothing burned down or anything. I was stupid enough though to leave the PC sitting on it while I went to look for something to snuff it out. The metal got warped enough so the lid doesn't even fit anymore.

Yeah well my first priority wouldn't be to grab the PC either. If it was covering the fire then, shit, it was doing you a solid there. Glad that didn't ass-fuck your life like some fires do.

Made some more minirounds tonight and did some more accurate measuring.
I've always felt like I was wasting some of my MEA powder. Just generally using too much.
It takes a little more than teaspoon of fluid to cover the bottom of a mini. I made 9 plates tonight so I rounded up to 15 teaspoons just to make sure there would be enough and to account for any evaporation.
15 teaspoons (or 5 tablespoons) requires 3 grams of MEA powder (out grow brand)
Using these measurements you get about 3 plates per gram of powder. A 20 gram bag from out-grow will give you 60 mini rounds worth of culture media.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Started two of these with MS the other night, and I had a hard time getting the the lids one handed. I'm new to this, but I think screw offs might be easier to work with.
Also I think I'm going to look for something with a transparent lid like Happy Littletree found for my next batch since it's kinda hard to see what's going on in there from the edges.

its safe to open these with two hands. when the container goes thru its first run, it will be pretty tight, but the more runs the container goes thru, the looser and easier to get off it will be. if u have big hands its easier too. also if I'm using pasty plates, ill load the SAB with everything, then put my scalpel resting and getting flamed at same time, while its getting red hot, ill go in and loosen all the lids before hand, then blade is red hot, and when i go in, its easy to just start and make quick transfers. the screw tops are pretty big and cumbersome for both PC and SAB. but maybe they make smaller ones i use a combination of pasty plates and petris. i move the culture to a petri when I'm close to an isolate or might be a contam hiding, cause they are easier to see for me. pasty plates are great to always have around, i keep like 10 prepped at all times for clones, spore swipes and getting plate pins for cloning!

Yeah I'm 6'3" with a size 14 shoe so I guess I got pretty big mitts, I take that for granted sometimes.
