no need to usually.  i only ever do that (water on to) after 1st or second flush, and for a 66qt i might pour only about  cups worth at most on top, if it feels and looks dry.  about 3-4 hours later, ill pick up the tub, tilt it. and 90% of the time, it all absorbed b/c i never use that much.  as far as it reaching the bottom layers? I'm sure it does, at least a little.  but the bottom layer is usually the most hydrated, as it is furthest from the area of evaporation.  its really just my way of avoiding a dunk for bulk.  i case with peat, so dunking is messy and annoying.  it generally washes too much away.  uncased is different story, cause thats just one big block of substrate all held together, so it won't fall apart when completely submerge red or floated.

So after taking the above advice I have been misting heavily a few times a day and this is what happened.

I have a feeling they will all be opening by tomorrow morning.  I just misted them very heavily to see how much power they can thrust out this bitch.  I think this is gonna be heavier then the first flush easy.  They're much denser and taller overall.

Here's the final pic before the 2nd flush was harvested.

After that I poured a shot full of water on top and misted it a bit.  Updates to come...

I followed Frank's teks almost to the T.  Pour 3/4 of his coir bucket tek then all the spawn on top (6 jars), level that out and mix evenly as possible.  Wait for that to fully colonize (which took 2 days!) then I added a very thin casing layer of the extra coir.  My 2 tubs behind it are pinning but I added a 1/2 inch layer of casing for those 2.

Thanks! This is an MS tub.  I will be getting an isolate from my next tubs and see what damage I can really do with these bad boys

That's a really incredible tub.  I can't wait until I hear the dry weight.
