Found a few decent patches this weekend, took a few pics, and thought I'd share. They are out there, and if these small rains keep coming they should continue to fruit for a good while. It hasn't really cooled off too much yet, should be a few good flushes left in this season. Pics removed by geo due to troublesome tak LK,

Those are some nice mushies Lizard King... I have been searching fescue fields all over Cherokee County since the middle of August. I looked for three hours today! Still no luck... none of the fields from last year are fruiting and I have yet to find any new fields. It's a good thing my Lipa yai cakes are growing strong.

Thanks for posting your finds, LK. Can you tell us more about the potency? If I were to judge by the blueing effect I would guess that this species is roughly twice as potent as a typical P. Cubensis. Am I wrong?

I would defintely agree with Ps. weilii being the most potent Psilocybe in the south & southeast, and probably the strongest Psilocybin mushroom in the southeast even over Copelandias.
Compared to cubes they are atleast twice as potent, some can be extremely potent on par with Ps. azurescens/cyanescens, and others in poor conditon and growing in poor conditions may only be as potent as a typical Ps. cubensis. Usually, its safe to assume they are probably twice as potent as cubensis on average.
I'd really like to get a few decent psilocybin/cin content analysis from various patches. If possible, an analysis in both dry and fresh mushrooms. Paul stamets chart of Psilocybe potency defintely puts Psilocybe weilii lower than they actually are. From either improperly stored mushrooms, or a below average potency collection of mushrooms, or because it was an analysis performed on dried mushrooms and Ps. weilii may very well loose much of its potency after drying and Pauls chart is right on.
LK,

I have never had any dried Weilii, but I'm considering drying and capsulating if I ever get some decant havests. Whatmakes you think they would loose potency if dried?
