Light brown Mushroom found in mijn backyard
    #2007538 - 10/14/03 04:51 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

This mushroom was growing next to the Jimsonweed in my yard.
The ground is former seabottem (Holland)(1960) and contains nearly no compost, the plant debris around the shroom is from a Sunflower. The spore's are near black and not brown/purple like cubes.

near black or brow-black?

it could also be a psathyrella species. is it mostly lignous material on the ground?

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Kewl Anand; you're from the area my stepmother comes from...also my stepbrother still runs a disco over there. Don't see him much, but he's a nice guy.

About your mushroom: I've found similar species, but haven't id'd much of em. Like to know what this is man! The stem splits real easily and is hollow, yes?

if you don't understand a term, there is a glossery in the FAQ.

Glossary of Mushroom Related Terms -> gives an error

Glossary of Mycology Related Terms ->lignicolous ->growing on wood

if you mean that.... well there is not wood or woody plant pieces on or in the ground: its a 2 inch clay/sand topsoil and plain sand under it

yeah, i noticed the error in that link just a bit ago.

in answer: yes,
lignicolous refers to organsms wich grow on woody matrial.
lignous is an adjective refering to the woody material itself.

it is stilllikely a spathyrella species. it is not active.
