how to clear search history boxes?

how do i go about clearing the search history boxes at websites? i've tried going into Tools/Preferences and clearing the cookies and history, and didnt see anything else. So, whenever i type into a letter into a text box, a past line of text that also starts with that letter and has been typed before into it, pops up in a list box so i can easily select it again. How do i get this cleared? Anyone that uses my computer can see what i've typed into google, or any other text box, for that matter.

Use Mozilla Firebird.
http://www.mozilla.org
Even if you use the Internet Explorer Options to delete history, it's still there. Firebird is much better in all regards, uses much less system resources, very simple to use, and has better features.

download surfpal from download.com the first section of 6 buttons, click on all 6 and all internet history is deleted. also, dont worry about the trial time, after it expires, all you gotta do is hit enter after each click (to close a box that asks you to register).
or...
download opera and use that as your browser. in opera you go file > delete private data. and check everything you want deleted. it saves it everytime too so you never have to check off everything you want deleted except the first tiem you do it.
good stuff

True - get a real browser. Internet Explorer is for sorority girls, housewives, and people who watch sitcoms religiously.

download surfpal. the first 6 buttons (i think) will clear everything that you need to clear along with recently viewed documents. (start>document). of course you could use opera like i do, from there its just file>delete private data.
