Has anyone ever used whole Brown rice for cakes instead of flour?

sure, but not with the intention of fruiting as a cake. i had a 2# bag leftover from my cake days and decided what the heck and made jars of spawn from it. worked just fine.
i don't know about using it for cakes, so that really does not answer your? maybe someone else knows.

I only do casings and that is pretty much all I have ever done. Did cakes once and decided I wanted to do them again with an extra syringe I had lying around. My blender broke(Goddamn piece of shit) right when I started to make flour. So I mixed the whole rice with verm and sterilised.
Just wondering if it will work out allright.

Well, I tried 4 different Teks, 3 jars each, and the 3 with straight BR are going through the roof! What I mean is... they are days ahead of the other Teks, plus, when all nutrients are depleted, you can eat the cake, for a nice end to the flushes! I don't suggest eating verm, though. I also read on the growing section, that straight BR will provide more flushes when cased, than will verm/BRF, as it has more nutrients.
Peace

Makes sense to me.
It sounds like my cakes will be allright. I wish now I had left the verm out. Oh well.

It is hard to sterilize whole BR with a pot and boiling water unlike PF Tek though. You'll have to boil it for longer.

I kind of figured that. I went ahead and boiled the jars for an hour and twenty minutes.
Also, using that reasoning, if you ground up millet would it be easier to sterilise? And if you mixed it with verm could you make cakes out of it? I don't see why not. I'm gonna do a search on that subject.
