autojump
    #2003227 - 10/12/03 06:36 PM (20 years, 5 months ago)

Is there a way to auto-jump between forums, like most other messageboards? Basically, members chose which forums that they wish to enter via the Jump To menu and then it automatically loads. Seems to foster smoother and quicker navigation.

Who down with auto-jump?

Isn?t there a "Jump to:" menu at the bottom left of your screen?

Yes, of course. What I mean is enabling some sort of auto-jump event when you choose a particular forum. For example:  Mozilla FB forums. Notice the difference. Much smoother and quicker

Not sure if UBB supports such a feature or not.

This is a simple javascript function, it would take 2 minutes to program this.

It wouldn?t become "Much smoother and quicker" then though , the only time you would spare is the time you need to click on the "Jump" button, the rest of the process would take as long as it takes now, since it depends on the size of the database and the performance of the sever, which is obviously on the better side at the mozillazine.org forums.

Thanks  that is good to know. Perhaps that can be coded and offered to members as an option.

Yes, one less step of something that is not all that necessary. I do not mean quicker as in loading quicker; that obviously has to do with the server and individuals' own connection/computer like you pointed out. Quicker as in automation and smoother navigation

But then you couldn't use the handy mousewheel button to scroll the list to the point you want to choose.

Unfortunately, I spilled wine on my mouse last week and the mousewheel no longer functions as a scroll button

that's why it should be optional. perhaps make the autojump an option in My Home like everything else so if you want it, you got it - if not, then you're cool
