whoa there

I birthed my cakes in to the terrarium a couple days ago. This is the most recent photo of the cakes. Now, This 'fuzzy white stuff' is confusing me. I've read about common contams and it doesn't look like the white spiderweb mold, rather from what I can see it just looks like what I guess mycelium looks like growing outside the confines of the jar. What makes me doubt this? Well, I see some of this same white growth on the stems of one of the shrooms, as you can see from the photo. Then, to the contrary, I've got pins on the cake.

Any suggestions? It's been fairly smooth sailing for me so far, so I'm quite curious to, well, find out the fate of these cakes.

Including the photo would help.

Thats fine, just mycelium reaching out for food sources.
The fluffy mycelim up the stem is just a sign of high humiderty,
not a real probem. You could lower it a little.

This im going by from your description, not that pic lol, as i
can't see whats going on it that

yeah, sorry about the picture. I GIF'ed it and hoped for the best. the blow-up should do some good though. Another question if I might ask. what are the tell-tale signs of a rotting shroom, so i might remove it from the cake before it does harm to all my other little ones.

also, how does one lower the humidity with perlite? do I remove some or something? wait for some of the water to evaporate and not refill it as much?

They begin having a more darkish color. You should be only worried about aborts, they are pins that don't grow and remain small, they should be cut as soon as you spot them. If you got a rot grown mushroom, then you should toss the whole cake.

How much do you refill ? But you shouldn't have the need to refill anything, 3 inches of perlite and water hitting half the perlite level is all you need. It could last months with high humidity inside a well covered terrarium.
Anyway, you should fan more to lower the humidity.

gotcha, I'll look out.

And oh yeah, I've never had to put any more water in the perlite, but didn't know I wouldn't need to. That's cool, then, I'll fan it down a bit then.
