1st Timer! Sclerotia Grow Logs - UPDATE 7/8 - PICS!!**
    #20031477 - 05/23/14 06:02 PM (10 years, 7 months ago)

Hi there fellow mycofanatics!

I just wanted to start of by saying hello and give you a basic run through of the types of cultivation I will be talking about in my VERY FIRST THREAD AT THE SHROOMERY!!

I'll first try to acquaint you all with myself a bit. My name is PsiloBeast and I come from a very "green thumb orientated family environment" so to speak. 2 generations and passed to me as a third to continue cultivating and experiencing Cannabis as well as our non-psychoactive fruits and vegetables. It was not until fairly recently that I had first discovered my thirst for mycological type knowledge, and I must say that the magic of ALL fungi and mycoorganisms alike have and will always amaze me. Quite recently I have been successful with such strains as P. Cubensis (Golden Teacher/Cambodian variety) and I am now delving into the World of Sclerotia  (specifically P. galindoi) and I am very excited and impatient waiting on some stones!

At present i am not prepared to begin my grow log of the P. Galindoi HOWEVER I just did up a batch of WBS and pics and my first logs in this (my first ever posts) will be up shortly!

Thank you all!!

-PsiloBeast

P.S. To be continued......

Okay guys it's time for my first logs! Bare with me if they contain a lot of noo or errors haha but I am trying my best to make my way into a permanent part of The Shroomery!

LOG #1 - Intro/Beginning Steps

To start off I'd like to show you a few of my previous "experiments" with P. Cubensis Cambodian/Golden Teacher to lay out some slight credentials (so you guys don't think I'm completely noob meat!! Haha) as well as my first jars knocked up with the Sclerotia producing strain, P. Galindoi ATL#7.

Psilocybe Cubensis Golden Teacher/Cambodian Variety

The following are now (and finally) the first logs in my official SCLEROTIA GROW!!:)

I prepared the jars with an EZ Felt RTV Siliconed GE Lid on each jar ranging from quart to half gallon in size.

From there I began a soak with mild coffee and gypsum mix with a Walmart Brand WBS. After a 15 hour~ soak I then rinsed and let strain through a colander for give or take an hour or so, shaking the grain as the hour progressed. Once properly strained I loaded the hard into a Presto 23 quart pressure cooker and cooked at 15psi for 90 minutes. Let cool overnight. Then knocked up the beautiful bastards :')

Well that's all for this round folks! Next log very soon! Within a week! Wish the little spore babies luck

-PsiloBeast

Okay finally update #2!

Just a quick update/log mind you but an update

I checked yesterday and took pics as well, but as you can see knockin' up them bastards was successful!! (So far)

The following are the spots in the Quart Jars where the spores have germinated. Yes yes, I do use an extreme amount of spore in my syringes well...because I can

P. Galindoi Quart Jars

These pictures are all the same species (ATL#7). No I don't keep a light on them btw that is just for the pics . The first picture is of some jars inoculated with a Grain to Grain style transfer. The Second photo is of my half gallon jars and a few other jars further along. My main focus though will be the jars posted above.

Enjoy!

Oh and also I use a pet heater rock because it gets quite cold in their area sometimes. I treat them like children I swear! Haha

Okay, finally an update!!

So over the course of the last few weeks I've been quite the busy little bee. After knocking up the half gallon jars I then proceeded to prep several batches of WBS into mostly quart jars. Some jars were knocked up with a G2G method and the rest were done with a MS syringe made by me from a print (again ATL#7 Psilocybe Galindoi is the strain in question and the mission is to obtain some stones...)

P. Galindoi Quart Jars #'s 1-6

Grain to Grain method of inoculation

Inoculated on 5/28/2014

First signs of sclerotia life

Total Amount of Grains

I have
1 Half Gallon Jar (5/24)
4 Pint Jars (5/8)
11 Quart Jars (5/28-5/31)
3 Quart Jars (6/8)

...and one more batch of 6 quart jars to come!

TOTAL
                                - 24 Quarts for an even 6 gallons!!

Heres just a master jar of mine, almost at 100% colonization in only 7 days!!!!

Thanks for your patience people!! More to come soon!!!

Welcome to the forum:hi:

I've got 4 separate ATL#7 outdoor beds that are fruiting at the same time. Their absolutely beautiful creatures and I wish you the best of luck with them.

Thank you all for the replies! Makes me feel so very welcome :')

Yeah this is my first ATL#7 Experiments if you will haha. I'll try to get the first bit of the logs going ASAP!!

Oh and I was also super excited to have found HALF GALLON JARS!! I didn't even know they existed until I was at my local gardening shop >.<

I'll be posting in the next 1-3 days! All subtitled pictures and descriptions. Mostly step by step but I'll leave a lot of the explanation to the various "Elder Members" wise Teks and such.

Ive got a couple of 1/2 gal jars going they look really cool colonized doing ATL's orange yellow thing.... you could do quarts or even pints wait a while then break em up and transfer a stone to the big jars so you limit the number of genetics going in

Posting to keep in the loop on this one.  Personally I think galindoi stone grows are great for everyone with a PC, newb or not.  Fruiting them is a different story, but once you've got the colonized grains what do you have to lose, right?

Will transferring a Stone to another jar be just the same as a G2G transfer??

I have heard that fruiting the ATL's can be quite the task compared to the astonishingly easy Cubes! I'm hoping to get some prints to restock my spore collection, just in case the old Hawk's Eye are out of stock when I need them if y'all know what I mean haha.

While not the 'same' I think this is a safe assumption. The whole purpose of sclerotia is for the mycelium to have a 'hubernation pod' (sorry I love thinking about it like that) that can survive through long periods of inadequate conditions. I would think transfering it to another jar would give you growth.

I've also heard of people trying to clone from dried sclerotia.

I think if you were to take a stone from a master jar, and drop it into another jar in a SAB or flowhood it would most likely work.

I have taken inner tissue samples of a big sclerotia to agar with success, it grew tons of stones on the plate. It's now in a 5lb spawn bag waiting until mid june, when I'm going camping and stargazing. :psychsplit:

Fruiting is pretty straight forward, similar to cubes. They like poo and straw with a verm + peat casing. You can also just fruit off cased grain.

Have fun! Exotic species are awesome :sun:

Great input guys thank you so much!!

And I must say that is an amazing picture of some beautiful fruits fatchillin!!

Haha "Hibernation Pod" that is incredible! I had no idea you could clone from dried sclerotia either :crazy2:

So it would be safe to say that a normal G2G with ATL#7 master jar would work as well too, correct?

nice fatchillin!  do u spawn them at 100% or wait for stones?  and how is ur GH set up if u don't mind me asking?  mine is finally about as empty as its gonna get, and i was thinking of taking advantage of it and modifying it for better FAE.

G2G works, but when I did G2G there was a stalling period before they starting forming sclerotia. Stonesun has a good tip about using 3-4cc LC to make master jars, so fast colonization means there isn't any sclerotia formed when G2G'ing.

I spawned the jars as they reached 100%, My set up then was 24/7 evaporative humidifier, in 45 minute intervals ultrasonic turned on for 25 minutes. pretty much just followed franks GH tek.
