stalled growth
    #2002733 - 10/12/03 05:17 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I started back on the 18 and most of my jars were growing just fine but they seemed to have stalled about a week ago. But at the point they stalled the jars were atleast 90% colonized and only small patches on the bottom where open. SO at this point I got an electric blanket thinking the drop in temps caused it but after a few days of warmth I couldn't notice any growth, so then I flipped them and still no growth. Should I just birth them?

BTW: I've got a couple of other jars still growing but they were started at a later date.

You could try loosening the lid a tad, the slowed growth is probably due to CO2 buildup in the jar. Towards the end of incubation I don't think it's unheard of for the growth to slow down. If it were me I would not birth until full colonization.

Could be many factors: Substrate too wet, too dry. Not enough humidity in your storage area. My advice is just try to keep them in a stable environment (as outlined in the basic cultivation guide of the shroomery) and be patient. Sometime it can take up to 2 months, instead of 1 or less. And as Smaug said, wait for 100% colonization...........unless you have enough to experiment with.......

take the tape off. MAke sure the lid is not sead tight. Do the jars look wet or dry? Keep them flipped and bang down to allow some fresh air in to help colonize the bottom.
