I suppose you could use table salt, but if you are looking for something natural, dry rice works better than salt. In Florida, we always used to put rice in the salt shaker to keep it from sticking. Salt absorbs water from the air and becomes clumpy. The rice absorbs water more effectively than the salt, so the rice absorbs the water from the salt and keeps it from sticking.

On TV I saw that truffles are stored in jars of rice.
