Agaricus augustus?
    #1999225 - 10/11/03 03:25 AM (14 years, 1 month ago)

These were found fruiting in grass near pine trees.

After a taste test, it definately tastes like an agaricus from the supermarket.

The stem is very scaly, and the gills are pinkish brown.
It bruises slightly yellowish and has a nutty smell.
The cap doesnt appear to be yellowish-brown, that is whats throwing me off..

Spore print in progress.  :print:  :stoned:

What do you think?

That is unlike any augustus I have seen. I do concur it is an agaricus though.

I've never found any that didn't have the toasted-marshmallow look. . .and everyone I've ever eaten had an obvious almond flavor. Not subtle at all. They're my favorite find.

I have a patch of augustus growing across the street from my house. Another huge one pops up about every month or so.
