Lost my positive outlook on life
    #1998550 - 10/10/03 07:43 PM (20 years, 5 months ago)

I dunno what it is, but lately I've just been more and more negative. Whereas before I was once able to make myself happy from within, it feels like I can't do that anymore. I seem to have lost all the insight I've gained from shrooms. I've become more and more cynical and my self-esteem has been deteriorating. I'm hoping this is just a phase that I'll snap out of, but I just don't know.

Having a negative outlook on life isn't such a bad thing if you think about it. As a fact of life, bad shit happens to you all the time. When you have a positive outlook and trust everyone and think life is great you're at a higher risk of getting screwed over or becoming disappointed. If you have a negative outlook, at least you're prepared for it. Deep down we all know hookups don't always pull through, people get beat for money, bags are short, some shrooms you get are weak, girlfriends breakup with you, people die etc etc the list goes on. Expecting it makes it that much more bearable.

Self-esteem problems? Just try being more pompous. Remember, you're better than everyone else, and that's that. Apparently it's only okay to *think* this way, as acting this way makes you an "asshole". I've seen you post your pics before and you're a good lookin guy, SO GO GET LAID and cheer up!

By negative outlook, I mean as in I hate life, I hate myself, I hate people in general, and sometimes I don't feel like getting out of bed in the morning. I really don't want to feel this way, and I'm trying to overcome it, but it's hard. As for my self-esteem, I'm just too smart to fool myself into thinking I'm better than everyone else. I know my self-esteem will recover eventually, but not anytime soon. And I know for a fact that chicks aren't into guys with low self-esteem.

Get the fuck out your house right now!

But before you do, sign yourself up for some dance classes or something similar. Your self esteem will pick up in no time, plus you'll be in a good envirement with modavational people, that includes girls .

Also cut down on the weed. I know you smoke, just ease it down to the weekends so you can afford to enjoy yourself with your fellow humans.

&

I suffer from the same afflictions. Sometimes I get pissed off at the whole world and myself for not being able to do anything about it. Sometimes I get pissed about the little personality flaws all my friends have, or the idoicy of the average man on the street. I get mad because some people are starving while other people burn money on frivolous things.

dont identify your negative feelings with yourself. recognize them as a season that will pass.

do not think: "This is me, I am negative and angry", instead think, "Wow, its a really angry atmosphere in the mental realm today. I wonder when this storm will pass."

Its a lot easier to beat negativity when it is not attached to some core aspect of your being in your mind

Well, I'm too sick right now to do any physical activity, and it's been at least a week or two since I've smoked weed.

I know how you feel man. My whole life has been one big depression. I have so many things that I hate about my self and my life. Most of the time I wish I could start life over and be a different person. This last year has been really rough but I know one day I'll be happy and fullfilled again. I have ways of dealing with my negativity.

Well I think its good that so many people are losing their positive outlooks on life - I find this very positive, because modern western lifestyles are negative, and if people are feeling negative about it then I think that's positive!

 - the more of us there are who are pissed off and ready to do SOMETHING about this shit, the harder it will be to live this lifestyle but it will also BE HARDER TO KEEP US LIVING THIS LIFESTYLE. Children are starting to see mixed messages in the social world instead of "make money buy stuff make money buy stuff make money buy stuff make money buy stuff make money buy stuff........"

heh I'm not even sure if this is the direction your sorrow is coming from, but its the source of mine so I figured I'd share some brain-scum

^^^This is so not what I'm talking about. I was never content with the whole western lifestyle, but I used to be content with myself, and now I'm not. I've been feeling useless and unimportant, like I don't matter. THAT's what's changed--not my views on society.

FOR GOD'S SAKE SMOKE A BOWL....STAT!

Seriously. If it has been two weeks, a fatty would put you in a good place to ask yourself these questions.

When was the last time you were happy?

I bet it wasn't as long ago as it feels.

Negativity, like depression, feels as if it has existed forever but it never does.

Anne Frank kept a positive outlook. Well, she didn't journal her LAST thoughts, but you know what I mean.

I know I haven't been feeling this way for that long, and that's what troubles me. One day, I just woke up feeling like shit. I don't know how it happened, but it wasn't very gradual at all. Actually, I am starting to feel a little better, but not completely. As for the weed, I still have to find a hookup down here.

Well, no WONDER you aren't happy.

Realy, the key is to wake up happy tomorrow. If you do you'll have a great week. Take yourself out on a date. Do something silly or touristy.

"I've been feeling useless and unimportant, like I don't matter."

I've felt this way as well, due to my perceptions of our manufactured environment

One way to help yourself become more positive is to pay more attention to the little things that we take for granted. Something so small can bring you such a good feeling inside. Nature, the colour of leaves, the sound of the lake at night, stars, etc. Try paying a little more attention on something you think is beautiful and see how you feel.
