 Bush Drug Czar: Test for Drugs in Schools

BOSTON (AP) -- President Bush's drug czar told New England governors Wednesday that drug testing in schools would be an effective way to combat a growing problem of drug use among young people, but area school officials caution there are problems with it.
The region's six governors and John Walters, director of the Office of Drug Control Policy, met at Faneuil Hall in an anti-drug summit focusing on New England's heroin epidemic.
New England has more people ages 12 and over dependent on illegal drugs than any other region of the nation, according to Walters.
Heroin as cheap as $4 per bag has made it easier for young people to get hooked, he said.
"This is a tool that will make a difference," Walters said of drug testing of school children. "It's time has come."
There's good cautioning in the article as well.
Maybe they can put the drug screening labs in a little room right off the metal detectors.

Hey, so I was looking through freerepublic.com's drug posts:
Marijuana and Here it made me look at republicans in a whole new way. Im pretty antiparty line. But then I remembered that they are right leaning and all that entails, stealing the word "Republican" from its original meaning.

Dont get me wrong. I like democraticunderground, personally.. but some of them are total wack jobs too. It's weird though, the people on the free republic board sound more promarijuana then some of the du threads.
it's good to see that atleast weed is becoming universally accepted 
On a side note, this article is classic. I love the part where they retract the brain damage. They should be selling it through Eli Lilly in a couple years.

The coolest thing about arguing about the WOD there is that I have seen poeple actually reverse their positions and decide to stop supporting the WOD. That is gratifying.
I really do think that mj decriminalization will eventually come from a republican administration, just like welfare reform had to come out of a democratic one. It's the whole 'nixon to china' scenario.
