I agree, there's also so many preservatives in American mayo that who knows when it really expires. I eat foods past the expiration date quite often, and only throw it away if it's bad.

If it didn't taste funny OP, then it wasn't truly expired or rotten.

For the most part this is true. There is no expiry date in the wild, our taste buds are evolutionarily designed to know when something is rotten.

That said, I still try to avoid food that is past its sell by date.
