Are these Liberty Caps?
    #1993509 - 10/09/03 03:34 PM (13 years, 8 months ago)

I found these growin near cow dung in middle of tall grass. Location is southern Finland. All were pretty close to each other. Average height 8 cm and width of cap 2-3 cm. Stem is thin, 3 mm maybe. Sporeprint was dark, almost black.

Sorry for my bad english! Thanks in advance for your knowledge!

i love how the european semies i see often expand so much at the margin. i never see that here.

Yup.... those are P. semilanceata, I find them like that here in the UK occaisionally. They often go like that when they are old.

Thank you! I was pretty sure my self about them but now im fully confident (if that?s possible). Im gonna go back to the same field again to look for some more.

These 32 shrooms were 1.9 grams after 40h drying. I read somewhere that average ammount to trip is 30-70 shrooms. How much would this be in grams? I have had one trip with 3 grams Cubensis B+ and that was totally perfect for me. Semilanceata should be a bit stronger I presume?

Migel,

I believe Liberty caps are one of the strongest shrooms to exist (the third strongest psilocybe i think). They are potent little things, and they contain alot more baeocystin (sp?) than Cubensis, so you may notice it produces a slighty different overall effect.

Enjoy, but proceed with caution.

Are there not more than one variety of liberty cap, which could explain the wide varience in morphology?

I read somewhere (I think in one of MJ's posts) that there are indeed different varieties of psilocybe semilanceata. Maybe MJ could give his comment about this?

technically yes, but its also just a morphologically variable species, like deceivers for example, (laccaria spp.) theres so many different shapes and forms its hard to tell what you have if youre unfammiliar
