Paper pellet growing tech needed
    #1992978 - 10/09/03 12:59 PM (14 years, 7 months ago)

I haven't been able to get straw locally and thought I would try paper pellet cat litter.
Has anyone had any success with it, I can't find any techs and need some help. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Personally, I'm not sure I'd want to eat shrooms grown on paper, given the chemical processing (bleaching and so on) as well as the chemicals in the ink itself. I understand that many newspapers use soy-based ink now, but what the heck else is in the ink? My guess is that paper based kitty litter would be made from low grade recycled paper, stuff that wouldn't be economical to use in making new paper. Would that have implications for the kitty litter's 'edibility'? I had thought about the possibility of using newspaper to fruit P. azure, but then I thought about all the ink and stuff that's in the newspaper and reconsidered.

Somebody out there probably knows a good deal about the paper pellet kitty litter and the chemicals it has in it. Opinions? Facts? Come on, give 'em up!

well js, it seems that some of the commercial kits use recycled newspaper, so people are eating them I guess... check out this thread.

As for the ink, I wouldn't worry about it, though, the paper chemicals may be another matter
..... after all this stuff is safe enough for your cat's ass, it can't be bad!
I see a fearless Shirley Knott snuck in while I was posting! I guess it's a fact that you'd eat em'

I'm not sure, maybe if you mix poo with it?

My main interest is wood loving edibles.
