Energy sources and percent share of total US electricity generation in 2012 were: Coal 37% Natural Gas 30% Nuclear 19% Hydropower 7% Renewable 5% - Biomass 1.42% - Geothermal 0.41% -Solar 0.11% - Wind 3.46% Petroleum 1% Other Gases < 1%
http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/faq.cfm?id=427&t=3
The 4 renewables combined = only 5%.
Renewables: Fad of the future, 'Way' of the distant future, if we make it.

Not true, they compare coal ash which is released into the environment to the radiation which is released by nuke plants
false, did you even read the article. They are not talking about the radiation from a nuclear plant operating, they specifically said nuclear waste.
I'll quote it again as you seemed to miss it:

As a general clarification, ounce for ounce, coal ash released from a power plant delivers more radiation than nuclear waste shielded via water or dry cask storage.

Psy, you are the one missing the obvious.
>As a general clarification, ounce for ounce, coal ash released from a power plant delivers more radiation than nuclear waste shielded via water or dry cask storage.
Can't you read? They say coal ash "released from a power plant" vs "nuclear waste shielded" which is what i said. Sheesh!

nuclear waste is different that radiation released from normal operation.

It does not show that coal ash is more radioactive than nuke wastes which was your point originally. They should not be releasing coal ash.
