The path is spiral.
    #1991527 - 10/08/03 11:52 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

The average height for the navel of a man is .618 of the total body height. The same proportion is found between the bones of the human hand . The human body, including the head, has a Fibonacci five appendages attached to the torso. The hands and feet each have five fingers or toes. Our senses also number five, sight, smell, taste, touch and hearing. The Fibonacci sequence has been found in the solar system. Planets with more than one moon have a Fibonacci correlation in the distance from the moons to the planet. A similar Fibonacci relationship holds true for the distance of the planets to the sun.

"All souls were created in the beginning and are
spiraling their way back to whence they came."
~ Edgar Cayce ~

"All human progress is in a circle;
or, to use a more accurate and beautiful figure,
in an ascending spiral curve."
~ Nathaniel Hawthorne ~

"Moral law must be of divine origin,
because, even before the tablets of Moses,
it was already contained in the spiral, genetic code."
~ Salvador Dali ~

"We do not go round a circle of existence.
That is an illusion, just as the cycling of
the planets and the stars is an illusion.
We move along a spiral track.
It is not quite the same journey from the
cradle to the grave each time.
Sometimes the differences are small.
Sometimes they are very important.
We set out each time on the same road
but along that road we have a choice of adventures."
~ J. B. Priestley ~ I Have Been Here Before

"We have learned much, Siddhartha.
There still remains much to learn.
We are not going in circles, we are going upwards.
The path is spiral: we have already climbed many steps."
~ Hermann Hesse ~ Siddhartha

the spiral has amplitudes

so high on the waves anscestors have made for us
rippling outwards, before we catch the next cool wind

i think the term coil is more accurate as a spiral ignores time (its flat). as far as i can tell, time doesnt repeat itself and just continues on. i think if you truly want to something like this to apply to life, you need to include time. for example in the ups and downs of human society, theres an x value of the number of societal advances and a y value of a "war/peace rating" (just a numerical value to represent times of war or peace). finally the z value is time. you could take this data as a parametric function, graph it, and youd probably get a coil.

if there is no time please explain the following: growth/decay, velocity/acceleration/forces, age, the seasons... My point is, although no one knows exactly what time is, the current concept of time as its used today is quite beneficial. although quite vague, it gives us some idea of where we are (figuratively) and what to expect. the concept of time was most likely developed in response to questions similar to 'how long until i need food' or 'how far away from home am i.' While the meaning behind the concept may be a profound misinterpretation of the experience, there is still a phenomenon experienced by all life on earth (not necessarily in the same way, but similar at least) that at this point is referred to as time. it seems to me that time is no different from love, hate, sadness or happiness in that each is an experience that words cannot truly explain. the only way we understand these concepts and can interpret them is because we think we experience similar things. how do we truly know that the experience we call love/hate/sadness/happiness/time is the same as another person's experience of each? at this point i dont think anyone knows for sure. in place of a definition there seems to be an unspoken understanding that these concepts are all relative. i'll leave you with a few lines from south park just because it seems at least somewhat appropriate:

ms cartman: "doctor! did you find out whats wrong with him?"
doctor: "im afraid hes...running out of time."

I am not in denial about anything. All I said was that there is no time... take that however you want. I am just blathering on, man, secret intentions and whatnot... Yes, I would say that it is all going according to the plans...
Peace.
